
Austin Moran - Biography
Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, Austin Moran spent 25 years working in radio and television and has been heard on radio stations in Chicago; Washington, DC; and Philadelphia, as well as nationally on the Breeze Radio Network for five years as the morning on-air personality.
Austin lived in Tehran-Iran in the mid and late 1970s working for the National Iran Radio and Television network, broadcasting throughout the Middle East and Southern Europe. During his time in Iran, he also hosted a weekly televised travelogue filmed at historic locations throughout Iran. Later, Austin had the first-ever weekly syndicated radio program to air nationwide on the Soviet Radio Network from Moscow.
You may feel that you've heard Austin before - and very likely have. His voice having been featured on a wide range of projects for an array of clients that includes GTE, Bell Helicopter, Mercedes Benz-America, American University, Yashi Aircraft Corporation, Bank of America, The United States Navy, Southwest Airlines, PBS, and others. Additionally, Austin was featured in several dramatic roles on the BBC/Thames Television production of Man About The House.
A US Navy combat veteran of Beirut, Lebanon, Austin worked with Navy Space Systems Command and was a Master Training Specialist in cryptographic communications systems while stationed in the San Francisco Bay area.
He holds an undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and a graduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in addition to numerous courses in computer science, electronics, information security, and business management.
Currently, Austin is the IT Director of the NY State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) where he has authored several articles and white papers focusing on Internet security issues. He has also published several software applications that are currently in use by REALTOR® organizations around the country. One of the areas that Austin has devoted much time to recently is the development of NERMI (NYSAR Email Reputation Management Initiative), one of the industry’s first true email management programs, featuring a set of protocols to help ensure that NYSAR’s email reputation remains high, thereby increasing organizational bulk email deliverability to an astounding 99.6%!
Austin is also an active member of the FBI’s INFRAGARD program, a public-private sector organization that serves as a critical link to provide protection of our nation’s infrastructure.
Seeking to provide his clients with a holistic perspective to security and identity protection issues, Austin continues to expand upon his knowledgebase with advanced training and professional certifications, including that of Certified Ethical Hacker (c-eh) provided by the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants and Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (citrms) from the Institute of Fraud Risk Management.
